Former Presbytery Kooigem
The former early 18th-century presbytery, located in the historic village centre of Kooigem and within walking distance of the north-eastern Saint Lawrence Church, has been carefully restored. The pointing and façade renovation works were carried out by Interbrickx from Ingelmunster, a company specialising in the traditional restoration of historic masonry and heritage façades.
For the repointing, RC ASTIVO 117, a pre-dosed binder based on natural hydraulic lime (NHL 3.5), was used. This high-quality lime mortar is renowned for its excellent breathability, elasticity and long-term durability. The mortar was applied to create shadow joints, executed slightly bevelled and recessed to fully respect the authentic historical appearance of the façade.
In addition, the traditional RPC restoration mortar by Saint-Astier was used to rebuild and restore the decorative mouldings beneath the eaves. Thanks to its original formulation and outstanding workability, the historic profiles could be reproduced with great accuracy. This combination of high-performance lime-based products ensures a durable, technically correct and heritage-respectful façade restoration.
