Forest Abbey

In Forest, the historic abbey, beautifully situated in parkland surroundings, is undergoing a thorough renovation. The works are being carried out by Artes Group: Artes Woudenberg is responsible for restoring the exterior, including brickwork, natural stone and roofing, and is fitting the entire façade with new joinery.

To consolidate the masonry, Coulinex Liant was injected where additional reinforcement was needed, while the joints were repointed with a mortar based on natural hydraulic lime (NHL 3.5), which is vapour-permeable and technically compatible with the historic masonry. For the aesthetic restoration of the natural stone, RC Nautil Mono P7 was applied, a decorative natural stone micro-mortar that provides a seamless colour match with the existing stone. The timber construction team addressed the roof structure using RC Polyhout-Epoxy to repair the beam ends and Sarpeco 910 for long-term protection against wood decay. This combination of lime-based restoration techniques and targeted timber treatment ensures a durable and skilled restoration of the masonry, façade and roof structure of this heritage building.
