Garden Path Poeke
In Poeke, a sub-municipality of Aalter, a refined garden pathway was constructed around a private villa, blending seamlessly into the rural character of the surroundings. The design combines hard-fired clay pavers with a border of natural stone setts, resulting in a timeless and artisanal exterior finish. The works were carried out by Steven Corijn.
The deep joints between the pavers and setts were carefully pointed and subsequently grouted using a fairly wet lime-based joint mortar composed of dune sand, washed sand, and NHL 5 (natural hydraulic lime). This application technique allows the mortar to flow optimally into the joints and fully settle within the structure. The result is a vapour-permeable, flexible, and low-stress joint finish, contributing to the durability of the garden path while enhancing its authentic appearance.
