Het Neerhof - Lozer Castle
In the Leie region, the listed farmstead ‘Het Neerhof’ of Lozer Castle has undergone a comprehensive restoration. The aim of the project was to restore the historic farm to its original glory while giving it a renewed social function. Under the guidance of Olivier Bouckaert Architects and the heritage authorities, the redevelopment was carried out with full respect for the site’s architectural heritage. The works were executed by Frédéric Vandekeere from Kuurne, together with craftsmen specialising in traditional restoration.
The entire farm complex was traditionally repointed and constructed using lime mortars based on NHL 3.5 from Saint-Astier, after which the façades were finished with RC Kalei in oxblood red, a distinctive lime finish that perfectly matches the historic character of the building ensemble. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and natural lime materials ensures a breathable, durable and visually authentic result. The surrounding landscaping, using reclaimed cobblestones and cart track impressions, enhances the heritage character, while the former bakery and dairy have been converted into holiday homes with contemporary comfort.
