description

At Handschoenmarkt in Antwerp, the historic buildings Gulden Sweert and Roose have undergone extensive restoration. The buildings form part of the historic streetscape and originally date back to the seventeenth century. Their distinctive brick and natural stone façade was restored with respect for the original architecture. The project was designed and supervised by ARAT architecten and carried out by PIT-EIFFAGE nv.

For the restoration of the natural stonework, ST.ONE by Saint-Astier was used in ST.ONE 08 – light Gobertange. This mineral restoration mortar is designed for repairing and reconstructing natural stone and architectural features. RC Stone Reinforcer and, where required, RC Nautil Mono P4 were also used as part of the restoration of the natural stone and brickwork. These products allowed damaged and weathered areas to be carefully treated and restored while maintaining a harmonious connection with the existing façade. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and suitable restoration materials helps preserve the authentic character of this historic seventeenth-century façade.
