Slurried pointing in Dentergem

No items found.
description

In Dentergem, a characterful brick façade is being carefully restored using traditional lime-based techniques that respect the original architecture. The works are carried out by Steven Corijn, a specialist in traditional façade restoration.

The existing joints are carefully raked out before being repointed with a lime mortar based on Saint-Astier CHAUX BLANCHE LC**** – NHL 3.5, dune sand, washed sand and RC Acryplast. The pointing is executed using the traditional slurried pointing technique, in which the fresh mortar is brushed and washed back across the brickwork to create a seamless transition between the joints and the masonry. This traditional method produces an authentic appearance that is particularly suited to the conservation of historic buildings. Depending on the desired finish, the façade may subsequently be protected with RC Siloxcoat or finished with RC Kalei, ensuring a breathable, durable façade system while preserving the original character of the brickwork.
